CLIPPER "CITY OF ADELAIDE" FINALLY DELIVERED:

The 19th Century Clipper "City of Adelaide" has at last been delivered to a berth in her name-City via the heavy lift vessel "Palanpur". A lengthy voyage began with loading onto a barge at Irvine Scotland, crossing the English channel behind a tugboat for fumigation at Dordrecht before being lifted onto the Palanpur in Rotterdam. Then a trans-Atlantic sojourn to Norfolk Virginia, refuelling stop at Capetown South Africa, delivery of locomotives picked up in Norfolk to the West Australia mining town of Port Headland before a final run to Adelaide in South Australia. THE "CITY OF ADELAIDE" PREPARES TO LEAVE SCOTLAND:
The world's oldest clipper ship (and #2 on our Network Heritage List) is one step closer to leaving an Irvine (Scotland) slipway, which has been its resting place near the Scottish Maritime Museum since 1993, for a new home in South Australia. Work is now well advanced to position a purpose built cradle underneath the ship allowing it to be transported half way around the world. (...more)

REPLICA TURRET UNVEILING AT GEELONG MARITIME MUSEUM:

A replica section of a HMVS Cerberus Gun Turret and enhanced display of the Georgian Line-Of-Battleship, HMVS Nelson will be unveiled by Friends of the Cerberus' Patron John Wood to celebrate Victoria's Colonial Navy. The Victorian Navy, which was Australia's most powerful colonial navy, comprised sixteen ships which included an ex Line-Of-Battleship, a powerful Monitor warship, gunboats, torpedo boats and modified Government, Harbour Trust and commercial vessels. MADDEN MOVES ON CERBERUS:
In correspondence dated 20 June '07 the Victorian Minister for Planning, Justin Madden MLC, has confirmed his recent formal approach to the Federal Minister for the Environment and Water Resources suggesting that "our respective departments develop a joint funding proposal on Cerberus. I have asked Heritage Victoria to pursue this proposal with its colleagues in Canberra." (...more)

HMVS CERBERUS - HUGE CROWD GATHERS TO CELEBRATE:
Congratulations to Friends of the Cerberus on attracting large numbers of supporters from across the generational divide to last Sunday's celebration of Australia's only battleship. Network Administrator and Friends' President John Toogood has labelled the event as "our most successful 'call-to-arms' yet". Mr Toogood made particular mention of some groups and individuals whose contributions, in addition to those of their hard-working board members, "continue to inspire rapidly growing support for our cause".
